Presented in the first person from the point of view of a mercenary officer. Not overly familiar with the battle, but at a minimum this is a rousing adventure story.
Excellent description of the causes, strategies and outcome of the Battle of Blenheim. I particularly like the in-depth political explanations of the era and the character of the Duke of Marlborough.
Good, concise look at a great battle.
I realise it's churlish to give a mediocre rating to a "free" book. But, it loses it's relevance when there are references to diagrams/maps which haven't been carried over in the kindle edition. Enjoy Belloc's prose but still finished the book wondering at just how much I'd missed and why the battle was so important as to warrant Blenheim Castle in recognition.
